Professor Where: The Musical

In a new musical comedy, John B Stevens – the disillusioned showrunner of famous sci-fi TV show Professor Where – is writing his final season when he finds himself transported through universes and trapped in the very world he is desperately trying to escape.
A hilarious original musical, and a “joyous and loving kick in the ribs” at British sci-fi classics, Professor Where is a meta exploration of what it means for a writer to carry the legacy of a cultural phenomenon.
Staged by Technobabble Productions at TheSpace Surgeons Hall during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2024 (19th-24th August). This was preceded by a workshop production in the Burton Taylor Studio, Oxford, where three of five shows were sold out. Both productions were written by Cassie Wicks, with director Simone Balakrishna and music director Deanna Duff.
“You’re in for an enjoyable, galaxy-spanning ride […] Author Cassie Wicks [has] written a piece of fan-theatre that blows a jaunty raspberry at the show, its makers and its watchers. ” Peter Kessler on Sci-Fi Show
“I’m more than happy to rank Sci-Fi Show amongst [the] legendary spoofs.” Adam Kendrick on Sci-Fi Show
Between The Lines (Short Play)
When a couple read a draft of their best friend’s new novel, they realise it’s about a tumultuous argument they all had. They have notes.
In this short play told through characters’ rewriting and commentary on a dramatic argument scene, three perspectives are shown. First, June lost her two best friends when they kept their new relationship secret. Second, Miriam is being guilt-tripped for daring to give her attention to someone new. Third – and most reluctantly given – Paloma’s biggest secret was not so secret all along, and no one told her.
Staged at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama’s 2025 SUfest, directed by Roman Terrazas.

This original pantomime was staged at Goodenough College, designed to introduce the college’s international students and families to the pantomime tradition.
Moderate Expectations: The Musical
When orphaned urchin Pip Pirrip falls in love with the beautiful but snobbish Estella Havisham, he knows that despite her aggressive disinterest in him, the only thing really standing in his way must be his lack of a fortune. (His best friend Biddy has her doubts). So when he finds out he is to come into GREAT EXPECTATIONS (or, well, moderate ones at least) from an anonymous benefactor, he is overjoyed. However, are his newfound riches worth losing his closest friends and family? Who exactly is this mysterious benefactor? And above all, is Estella really worth the fuss?
An adaptation of Great Expectations staged by Oxford University Light Entertainment Society in 2025, and directed by Danann Kilburn. Featured a cast of 37 actors, each with their own character.
